Our Story
The Southeast Kiko Goat Association began as Georgia Meat Goat Producers, a small group of passionate farmers who met several times each year and attended Fort Valley State University seminars on raising goats.
When the American Kiko Goat Association (AKGA) introduced regional associations, our group became SEKGA, and in 2010 we transitioned into an independent association of Kiko goat producers.
Today, SEKGA represents members from Florida to New York and from the Carolinas to Texas. Our members share a common goal: to raise healthy, productive Kiko goats while supporting one another through education, networking, and access to quality breeding stock.
Recognizing the need for breeder education and improved genetics led to the creation of the SEKGA Round-Up Sale. Thanks to the dedication of Marilyn Seleska, Paul Murphy, Dr. An Pieshel, and John Smith, the first sale became a foundation for what SEKGA is today. We continue to celebrate and promote the many benefits of the Kiko goat breed, bringing together breeders and families who care about sustainable farming and high-quality livestock.
Our Mission
SEKGA members are passionate about raising Kiko goats because they combine resilience, productivity, and low-maintenance care in one outstanding breed.
Our mission is to promote and grow strong, healthy herds of Kiko goats that thrive naturally while providing an efficient, sustainable, and rewarding experience for farmers and homesteaders.
We also believe in leadership, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Our ongoing mission is to cultivate excellence in Kiko goat production, foster innovation in genetics, and ensure a prosperous future for the next generation of producers.
What We Do
Education for all levels
Every SEKGA Round-Up Sale features free goat husbandry seminars, hosted by experienced producers who are always happy to share practical knowledge about raising and managing Kiko goats.
Youth development
A County Extension agent leads our 4H/FFA Skillathon, where young participants test their skills and learn about goat care. The winner receives a registered Kiko doe donated by a SEKGA member.
SEKGA Scholarships
Through raffle ticket sales SEKGA supports the Maxwell/SEKGA Agribusiness Scholarship Fund, which helps future agricultural leaders pursue their education.
Community and genetics
Members can explore the barns, connect with breeders, and find the perfect goat to strengthen their herd. When the sale begins, it is an exciting, family-friendly event that celebrates the Kiko breed.
The raffle buck tradition
For breeders looking to add outstanding genetics, our raffle buck is always a highlight of the event.
