The Southeast Kiko Goat Association is proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 SEKGA Maxwell Agri-Livestock Scholarship.
This year, SEKGA had the privilege of awarding scholarships to two young women who are beginning their college journeys with plans to build futures in agriculture.Congratulations to Kyla Brown
Kyla Brown, daughter of Heath and Lisa Brown of Goat Dynasty Kikos in Lineville, Alabama, is beginning her freshman year at Jacksonville State University, where she will major in Agribusiness.
Growing up with a connection to the livestock industry has given Kyla a firsthand look at the work, responsibility, and dedication that go into agriculture. As she begins her college education in agribusiness, she will have the opportunity to build upon that foundation while learning more about the business side of an industry that ultimately begins with farmers and ranchers.
SEKGA is proud to support Kyla as she takes this next step and looks forward to seeing where her education and agricultural background take her.
Congratulations to Sarah Storay
Sarah Storay, granddaughter of Todd and Renee Trotter of Trotter’s Pride in Anderson, South Carolina, is beginning her freshman year at Clemson University, where she will major in Agricultural Education.
Agricultural education plays an important role in keeping agriculture strong for future generations. The knowledge and experience passed from one generation to the next are what keep our livestock industries, farms, ranches, and rural communities moving forward.
By pursuing agricultural education, Sarah is entering a field where she will have the opportunity to help share that knowledge and encourage others to become involved in agriculture.
SEKGA is excited to support Sarah as she begins this journey.
Investing in the Next Generation of Agriculture
The Maxwell Agri-Livestock Scholarship is one of the ways SEKGA works to invest in young people who have a connection to agriculture and a desire to continue building upon it.
Our organization may have the Kiko goat at the center of much of what we do, but the future of our industry depends on something even bigger: people.
It depends on young people willing to study agriculture, raise livestock, teach the next generation, operate agricultural businesses, become industry leaders, and bring new ideas back to our farms and rural communities.
Scholarships are more than financial assistance toward a college education. They are also a way for those of us already involved in agriculture to tell the next generation, “We believe there is a future for you here.”
SEKGA is honored to play a small part in helping Kyla and Sarah begin that future.
