SOUTHEAST KIKO GOAT ASSOCIATION
2022 Spring Sale Recap
13th Annual SEKGA Round Up & Sale
FFA Center, Covington, GA
June 17, & 18, 2022
The Southeast Kiko Goat Association held their Spring Round Up and Sale in Covington, GA on June 17th and 18th. It was a typical hot and steamy southeast summer day. We were thankful that we had air conditioning for our educational seminars on Friday afternoon. Dr. Maria Browning, Dr. Richard Browning, and two of their graduate students visited from Tennessee State University to speak on current goat studies at the university. We actually have a few SEKGA member’s farms involved in the Antimicrobial and Antibiotic Resistance research. We also had fundraiser raffles with some really nice gifts. All proceeds will be used to support our SEKGA Maxwell Agri- Livestock Scholarship.
Before the sale, Carollyn Heath from Buena Vista, Georgia won the NZ Buck Raffle. The buck was donated by Bob and Marilyn Seleska of Spring Acres Farm in Quitman, Georgia. We also had two $ 50.00 gift cards drawn from our raffle bucket. I was very happy with the amount of support our youth received with our raffles and silent auction items.
We had thirty three bidders on site and twenty nine participated online with Top Livestock. There were bidders from sixteen states and some consignments will be traveling all the way to Oklahoma to their new pastures. Our sale had twenty two consignors with eighty three consignments. Our total sales were $ 73,100.00.
